- All the stage is basically hilly with many shorter and longer climbs. None of them is a big challenge on its own, but together they will make your legs tired.
- There are two loncherias at km point 103 and 107. The second one serves food and you can get water. Ask for a refill instead of buying bottled water, You will pay just a fragment of the price. You can even shower at loncheria 107!
- If you make enough progress, try to make it to Cataviña, if not, Guayaquil is a good place to stay at km point 132. You can, again, camp along the road.
- The last 15km before getting to Cataviña will be hilly and demanding.
- Cataviña: 2 hotels and convenience stores. I didn't try the hotels, but prices are said to be high as there is no alternative.
- Side Trip: Cave Paintings ("Pinturas Ruprestres"), 2km before getting into the town of Cataviña. Make sure to lock your bike or better: have someone watching it while you explore the caves.
