- the first 60 km are full of rolling hills. No time to relax but some loncherias and ranchos to sit down, enjoy the sun and have a cold drink.
- Watch out: the km markers are counting down to La Paz. So you will have all day a good indicator of what is still left until your big destination.
- km marker 40: you just finished your last climb of the trip. From here on it is all flat i.e. slowly descending until La Paz.
- Road conditions are as usual, once getting into La Paz, the road will widen up until you have two lanes on each side.
- Attention: traffic gets really annoying the closer you get to La Paz.
- La Paz: several big super markets, hotels, hostels, well stocked bike shops and everything else you might need. Discover the nice waterfront area.
- Day trips to Playa Balandra are a must! To get there, ride ca. 25 km northeast of La Paz along the highway. You can (and maybe should) camp there for a night or two.
- AIRPORT: If you decide to flight out, the airport is ca. 5km out of town (i.e. you have to go back a little bit the way you came). You can get bike boxes in the local bike shops. The staff usually does not charge you for that.
- FERRY: the very terminal can be found in the northeast outside of town along the highway. ATTENTION: be aware that the ferry only runs three times a week and that space there is limited. Especially around christmas, waiting time can be 1 - 2 months! So try to book in advance. If you miss that, here are your options:
- take a ferry to Los Moches and then a Bus to Mazatlan (or ride down there)
- try to speak to people with boats in the harbor in order to get a ride. To do so, go to the maritime area and hang out there.
- continue your Baja trip to Los Cabos and try your luck there (ferry and/or ride)
