Stage 3: San Vicente - San Quintin - 105 km

A quite easy stage along the Pacific Ocean. With the right wind and the right mood, miles will fly by without even noticing it.
  • After ca.15k km there will be a 2 km long ascent. Not a very steep one, but in this part it can get very hot, especially when the wind slows down.
  • Heading towards Colonet will usually have it's biggest challenge by the wind coming from the Pacific Ocean.
  • Once you are back on the ocean and head along the coastline, miles will fly by and with the right wind, you can make up to 45 km an hour constantly.
  • The closer you get to San Quintin, the worse road conditions will get (as of Nov. 2013). You basically have two choices: ride on the far right of the road or take the lane and force approaching cars to overtake you on the other lane.
  • San Quintin: super markets, hotels and even a Bike Shop! To find it, ride along the main Highway to the middle of the town. You will see "Bicicleta Cardenas" on your right hand side.
  • A part from these things, there is not much to do or to see in this town except maybe an old mill located on the outskirts of the city on the right hand side of the highway.
