Stage 11: San Ignacio - Santa Rosalía - 75km

After two relaxed days, this stage will be more challenging. Three climbs and usually strong headwinds  are the obstacles that have to be overcome on that part. Just before the end, you will ride down the famous Sierrra del Infierno!

  • Shortly after leaving San Ignacio you will find yourself already in the first little ascent. As usual, not too steep, but when the sun is burning, it feels different. As you already know… ;)
  • After 15km you find a small pueblo to stock up supply if you didn't do it in San Ignacio.
  • After ca. 32 km: second climb of the day, passing the Volcano Tres Virgenes to your left. This climb does not feel as a climb at the beginning, as the ascent starts gradually, but it will last for almost 5 km.
  • After this, you will have a downhill part for about 10 km, followed by the last climb of the day. Again: not steep, but rather long.
  • ca. 10 km before getting to Santa Rosalía: "Sierra del Infierno". One of the most spectacular downhill parts, that I have ever ridden. Make sure to stop at the sign, indicating the downhill and check your brakes! Don't be afraid of the road, the pavement is ideal and you can focus on the navigation and enjoy the view!
  • Santa Rosalía: leaving the industrial parts behind, you will get into town, turning right towards the center. Pavement immediately gets worse when you pass the entrance sign.
  • Visit the Church Santa Barbara, designed by Gustave Eiffel and originally meant to be brought to Santa Barbara, U.S. Anyway, the transport ship captain got confused and brought it here.
  • Bike Shop on the coast Boulevard, just before leaving Santa Rosalía on the right hand side.
